ISF: The Facilities

The ISF course is designed to provide an overview of the Taxonomy, Ecology, Biodiversity and Geological History of Benthic and Planktonic Foraminifera. The course is held in a newly-refurbished lecture room, and we have binocular microscopes that were newly purchased in 2012. Course lecturers make available the powerpoint of their lectures, and demonstrate specimens on microscope slides using a camera-projection microscope. The school boasts a large type collection of modern foraminifera that students can examine in their spare time to enhance their taxonomical expertise. Lecturers also bring assemblage slides for examination in the afternoon practical sessions. The school also has an extensive digital reprint library that the lecturers have compiled over the years.
